We cover Nehemiah chapter 6 this Sunday, so I pray that you have been reading through the text. I plan to concentrate on the gifts displayed in Nehemiah’s life that we should pray for and seek in our own. However, I love the celebration in the book of Nehemiah found in 6:15 & 16. It reads:
So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days, and it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God.
Do not miss it, you may think I am pointing out the completion of the wall and it was not an easy task; enemies from inside and outside tried to stop the work. Serious internal economic problems were uncovered, but in spite of all these attacks and setbacks the wall was finished in fifty-two days. But look how verse 16 ends, “they perceived that this work was done by our God.”
What has happened, is happening, or you pray will happen in your life, family, and the life of God’s church that the world would perceive it had to be “done by God.” THIS is what I am praying for, that God would move so mightily that even the pagan world, the enemies of God, and those indifferent to spiritual things would take note and realize God, the creator of the universe is moving in our midst!
