Day 37 of 52 Day Prayer Journey

Nehemiah Journey: Day 37 of 52 (October 12, 2021)

Nehemiah recognizes God has place on his heart a great task to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem and to help rebuild the relations between the people and their God. We have been given a great task as well. We are commanded to make disciples of all nations, but sadly many believers have never even made one disciple other than themselves.

Matthew 28:18–20 reads, “18And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”

We are called to make disciples by the command of Jesus (make disciples is an imperative/command), through the authority of Jesus (all authority), and with the presence of Jesus (I am with you always). We have been given a great task, a humanly impossible task, but we must get about the task. Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Start where you are and expand from there. Wherever God has put you He intends for you to be about the task of making disciples. Here are a couple places to consider.

  • Start at home:  Make sure you are helping make disciples of your family. Husbands and wives should encourage one another in their walk with the Lord and should work diligently to make disciples of their children. This is the primary responsibility of Christian parenting.
  • Extend to multiplication: None of us can make disciples of everyone, but all of us can invest in making disciples of some. Ask God to show you opportunities where you can share your faith and pour into others to help make disciples. Be intentional.
  • Expand the vision: We have been called to take the gospel to the nations, to the uttermost parts of the world. EVERY Christian family should have a plan or a vision on how they can impact the nations.

We have a humanly impossible task before us, but the Lord has called His church to the task. We need to walk in obedience believing He will use us for His glory and the advancement of His kingdom.

Please add your thoughts (Respectfully)
