Nehemiah: Day 11 of 52 (September 16, 2021)
We see in Nehemiah Chapters 3 & 4 discouragement often comes from naysayers and opposition from all around us. We also need to acknowledge discouragement comes because the task is difficult and life is hard. In Nehemiah 4:10, the people are tired, the work is already half done, but they see that it is ONLY half done. The rubbish they are having to deal with from the ruins of the wall and from the nonsense from the outside is making the work all the more difficult.
What should we do when we get into times like this?
- Rest: Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is rest. There are biblical principles of rest, and we need to heed them.
- Refocus: If a task becomes discouraging or draining, remember why you started it in the first place. If that reason is worthy it will reenergize you, if not you may need to make a decision to remove it from your assignments.
- Restart: Pray and seek the Lord in the task and do all things as unto Him. If He has called you to the task He will equip and strengthen you to complete the task in His timing!
