My heart was overwhelmed this morning as I read the news out of Las Vegas and the senseless violence that occurred there. We live in a world that has great evil and many have been blinded by that evil. There will be talks of gun control and mental illness in the days ahead, but our primary battle is not against these things but against the spiritual darkness that rages on this side of eternity. Paul said it well in Ephesians 6:12–13:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
I would encourage you to read the entire context from Ephesians 6:10–20. It should be part of our daily spiritual exercise.
PRAY:
- Pray today for the families of the victims in Las Vegas, and all who have been so shaken by this event.
- Pray for our nation, that God would turn our hearts and eyes toward Him.
- Pray for God’s bride, the church that we would respond rightly to this and other issues that are going on in our world.
- Pray for a Spiritual Awakening that in these dark days many would hear and respond to the glorious good news that Jesus died for their sins, was buried, and resurrected from the grave. This great gospel makes it possible for all to have victory through Him over sin, death, and the grave and overcome the great evil in this world!
